Holly Willoughby confirms return to Dancing On Ice after Phillip Schofield drama

Holly Willoughby appeared to confirm she would be returning to her Dancing On Ice presenting duties following Phillip Schofield's ITV drama.

On Tuesday Morning's show (26 September) Holly and her co-star Ben Shephard revealed who the first celebrity taking part in the 2024 show would be. Former world champion boxer Ricky Hatton was announced in style as he punched his way through a paper wall before giving Holly a sweet hug.

As the boxer sat down for a chat, Holly said: "I am so excited to get you on the rink", appearing to confirm that she will be returning to her position as part of the Dancing On Ice Team.

OK! has contacted ITV representatives for comment.

The 44-year-old boxer, who officially retired from boxing in November 2012 before returning to the ring for an exhibition match last year, said: “If I can hold my nerve in the boxing ring I should be able to hold my nerve in the ice rink. I like setting new challenges and keeping myself busy.”

Hatton is the first of 12 celebrities announced who will take on the challenge of skating live each week in a bid to impress both the panel and viewers at home.

The next series of Dancing On Ice will look a little different as Phillip Schofield will no longer be presenting the show as he stepped down from a string of hosting gigs after it emerged he had an affair with a younger male ITV employee.

After Phillip’s affair came to light, he was dropped by his agents and left ITV with immediate effect. In a statement, he said: “I am so very, very sorry, as I am for having been unfaithful to my wife.

“I have therefore decided to step down from the British Soap Awards, my last public commitment, and am resigning from ITV with immediate effect expressing my immense gratitude to them for all the amazing opportunities that they have given me.”

Phillip, 61, had presented the hit celebrity figure skating competition alongside colleague Holly Willoughby since 2006. The show went on hiatus for four years, but the popular duo returned together as presenters when it was revived.

Holly has continued her presenting role on This Morning without Phillip and has been joined by a number of guests including Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle, and Ben Shephard.
