Strictly fans swoon over raunchiest opening dance as stars wow in slinky outfits

    Strictly Come Dancing fans are swooning over the BBC show’s “raunchy” and “romantic” dance performance as the professional stars introduced the show with a bang.

    Lucky viewers saw the stars adorned is formal black and red outfits as they performed a sensational routine amid a foggy backdrop of a rocks and water.

    The pros were seen performing some seriously raunchy moves and at one point playing musical instruments in the fantasy-like scene as it spilled over into the studio.

    Fans compared it to the scene of a “raunchy romance novel.”

    “Big fan of this raunchy romance book cover themed routine,” gushed one fan.

    “It's giving Scottish Widows ad / Outlander,” penned a second, while a third gushed: “wow that was stunning!!”

    The BBC’s flagship dance competition series returned with a bang for its 21st series. The programme has lined up an enviable roster of celebrity guests for the new series including reality star Zara McDermott and veteran Channel 4 broadcaster Krishnan Guru-Murthy, as well as TV presenter Les Dennis.

    Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman returned to present the series alongside the judging panel comprised Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and head judge Shirley Ballas.

    First up was Adam Thomas and Luba Mushtuk who wowed with their performance of the Cha Cha Cha to Waffle House by the Jonas Brothers.

    Fans were full of praise for the star’s opening routine. “I don't think I have seen a human smile as much as Adam! I feared he might combust with joy!” said one fan.

    Another penned: “Just give Adam the trophy now!”

    Also impressive viewers was the delightful Angel Rippon, who at 78, she is the oldest celebrity to take part in Strictly in the show’s history.

    She joined professional dance partner Kai Widdrington dancing to Pink's Get The Party Started, wearing a short and silver, chiffon number with partner Kai who was sporting a silver, glittery jacket. The crowd cheered as Angela, who became the first woman journalist newsreader for the BBC in 1975, stormed the dance floor.

    Kai fell on the floor after Angela's epic performance and judges raised to their feet to congratulate her. Tess Daly said: "Wow, what a moment. That is a real full circle moment. Queen Angela. Can we discuss that high kick?"
