Strictly judges divided as Shirley Ballas votes to axe Layton Williams
Layton Williams left judges divided after tonight's performance on Strictly, with judge Shirley Ballas wanting him out.
This evening's Strictly Come Dancing saw Layton Williams and Angela Scanlon battle it out to avoid taking the bottom spot in the dreaded dance-off. Both couples performed their routines again in the hope of staying in the competition for another week.
Layton and dance partner Nikita Kuzmin once again danced their American Smooth to 'It's Oh So Quiet' by Björk. Angela and dance partner Carlos Gu repeated a performance of their Cha Cha to ‘I Will Survive’ by Gloria Gaynor.

Despite both couples dancing their socks off, there could only be one winner. Craig Revel Horwood delivered the first verdict, voting in favour of Layton and Nikita.
Craig explained his decision: “Technically for me personally, the better dance of the night, and the dance I actually enjoyed the most, was Layton and Nikita.”
Motsi Mabuse also chose to vote for Layton and Nikita to be saved. The South-African dancer said, "Well this was certainly a tough, tough dance off. I based my decision on musicality and balance and that is why I will be saving Nikita and Layton.”
Anton Du Beke's decision to save Layton meant the West End star's position in the dance competition was firmly locked in for the next week. The legendary dancer explained, “Well I thought that was quite a tense dance off, I don’t think either couple danced as well as they can.
"It was the closest dance off we’ve had in the series so far. This is the only thing, I saw an error from one of the couples, so I’m going to vote to keep in to the quarter-finals, Layton and Nikita.”
This left Angela Scanlon as the ninth celebrity to be eliminated from series 21 of Strictly Come Dancing. However, head judge and Queen of Latin, Shirley Ballas, disagreed with the ruling.
The 63-year-old admitted that she would have voted to save Angela and Carlos. Shirley said, “Well important for me always when it comes to Ballroom and Latin is the character of the dance, that it’s true to the dance, timing and quality and I would have voted for Angela and Carlos.”
Angela was "gutted" at the loss, but doesn't regret a thing. She told host Tess Daly, “It’s been honestly incredible, I’m gutted, really gutted that it’s finished now, but it has been the most wonderful experience.
"I have made the best friend in this man [to Carlos]. We have had so much fun, he is such an incredible guy. He has supported me and picked me up and made me laugh so much.
"I don’t know what to say, it’s been magical honestly – all of those people up there! My husband at home, my two little girls and all my friends!”
The next episode of Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday 2nd December on BBC One.
