Survivors most shocking moments – from severe heat exhaustion to being kicked off show

Put your hands in the air if you can't wait for the second episode of the new and improved reboot of Survivor! Back by popular demand, the iconic reality show has been given a new home on BBC One and is hosted by the one and only Joel Dommett.

The first episode thrilled fans when it returned to our TV screens last night – Saturday, 28 October.

For anyone unaware of the show or its concept, be warned… it's not for the faint-hearted. Its official synopsis reads: "A group of contestants are stranded in a remote location with little more than the clothes on their back."

Aside from providing their own food, water, fire and shelter, the castaways must also complete challenges where they're able to win rewards, plus immunity from the eliminations.

Of course, it's not all for nothing, as the last-standing survivor will receive the title of 'Ultimate Survivor' – but more importantly, a hefty cash prize.

Over the years, there have been some unbelievable pillow-in-front-of-the-face moments, from full on law breaking to pretty severe injuries.

So, as we gear up for the second episode tonight, let's take a look at some of the most shocking moments from previous series.

When Dan Spilo was kicked off the show

Hollywood talent manager and TV personality Dan Spilo took part in Survivor: Island of the Idols in 2019. He made it to the final six, however, was given a warning by producers when he was accused of several counts of inappropriate touching – notably from Kellee Kim.

He ended up being the first ever contestant to be ejected from the show after a member of the production team also came forward with allegations.

Since his removal, he has expressed how "deeply sorry" he is.

Colby Donaldson stole coral from the Great Barrier Reef

During 2001's Survivor: Australian Outback, contestant Colby ignored the actual laws and proceeded to steal some coral from the Great Barrier Reef while snorkelling.

Naturally, he was caught out, which forced Mark Burnett, the show's executive producer to make a public apology on Colby's behalf.

Rob Mariano aka Boston Bob's trick

'Boston Rob' Mariano took part in the Survivor: All-Stars series in 2004. During his stint, he convinced fellow castaway Lex van den Berghe to vote to keep Amber Brkich in the show because he liked her.

However, he then immediately nominated Lex who was subsequently evicted from the show.

Michael Skupin suffered third degree burns

Michael Skupin took part in Survivor in Australia back in 2000.

On his 17th day, he was tending the campfire when he accidentally inhaled some smoke and passed out. However, he fell straight into the fire which caused him to regain consciousness, start screaming and run into the water.

After being assessed by the medical team, his injuries were deemed too severe for him to continue. He was subsequently airlifted to hospital for further treatment whereby he became the first ever contestant to be medically evacuated.

Marcus Lehman's nudity

Back in 2008, contestant Marcus Lehman accidentally flashed on national TV – through no fault of his own – the network didn't actually censor it!

Basically, while running, Marcus' loose fitting boxers exposed his nether regions for a few strides. Awks…

Russell Swan collapsed with his eyes open

2009's Survivor saw host Jeff Probst call this event the "scariest" thing he's ever witnessed on the show.

Russell Swan, a 42 year old attorney from Pennsylvania, ended up collapsing due to severe malnutrition and dehydration – but his eyes were still open.

The terrifying moment saw Jeff pull Russell from the show entirely.
