Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 38, captured the hearts of royal fans everywhere when she walked down the aisle in a stunning white lace Alexander McQueen wedding dress in 2011. The Duchess’s iconic gown inspires brides to this day and a new study has placed it among the most expensive bridal outfits of all time.
According to research by Flowercard (https://www.flowercard.co.uk/), the Duchess of Cambridge’s dress ranks sixth among the top 10 priciest celebrity wedding dresses.
Kate’s gown is reported to have originally cost £334,180 which would make it £386,146 nowadays taking into account inflation.
Only one other royal featured on the list – Monaco’s late princess and Hollywood icon Grace Kelly.
Grace Kelly’s gown was designed by Helen Rose and cost £46,200 when she tied the knot with Prince Rainier III of Monaco in 1956.
Adjusted for inflation, Grace’s dress would cost an astronomical £441,478 making it the second most expensive celebrity gown on the list.
Meghan Markle’s close friend tennis star Serena William comes out top with the priciest celebrity wedding dress.
Serena’s gown, like Kate’s, was designed by Alexander McQueen and cost an extraordinary £2,695,000 when she married in 2017.
Adjusted for inflation Serena’s gown would nowadays cost £2,857,698.
