The Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson story is still ongoing. We all recall their whirlwind romance. Back in 2018, seemingly out of nowhere, the God Is A Woman songstress and the Saturday Night Live comedian were head over heels for one another. Before we could even get used to the idea of them together, they were engaged and living together in a million-dollar high rise in New York City.
However, just as quickly as their romance blossomed it crashed and burned. In a matter of months, their engagement was called off and the duo went their separate ways. From the outside looking in Grande and Davidson seemed to be exact opposites. Things also got tense between the pair where the singer’s ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, tragically died from an overdose.
Now, Davidson is telling his side of the story, but he shaded Grande in the process.
This is how Pete Davidson knew his relationship with Ariana Grande was over
In a deeply personal interview with Charlamagne Tha God, Davidson spoke about SNL and his past relationships with Grande, model Kaia Gerber, and actress Kate Beckinsale. He revealed that he realized he knew he and Grande were done when Miller passed away.
“I totally got it,” he explained to Charlamagne on Live Your Truth. “She would even tell you this. I was like, ‘Listen, I get it, do whatever you’ve got to do, I’ll be here.’ I think I said, ‘I’ll be here until you don’t want me to be here.’ I pretty much knew it was around over after that. That was really horrible, and I can’t imagine what that sh*t is like. All I do know is that she really loved the sh*t out of him, and she wasn’t putting on a show or anything. That was f**ked up. Prayers to his family and all of his friends.”
Pete Davidson shaded Ariana Grande in his Netflix special
Since they went their separate ways in 2018 — both Grande and Davidson ave been open about their whirlwind romance. In a July 2019 interview with Vogue the “thank u, next” singer called her relationship with the SNL comedian a “distraction.”
Now, Davidson is telling his side of the story. In his new Netflix stand up special, Alive From New York he quipped, “Can you imagine if I did that? My career would be over tomorrow. If I spray-painted myself brown and hopped on the cover of Vogue magazine and just started s—ting on my ex?”
He also hinted at how unfair their breakup was since she was named Billboard’s Woman of the Year for her hit song about him while he was publically ridiculed.
Ariana Grande responded to Pete Davidson shading her
It looks like Grande has no ill-feelings about Davidson even after his Netflix special. In fact, she appreciates his candor. “Pete being honest is what Ariana really loved about him,” an insider told Hollywood Life. “She knows that he has his demons, but if he is able to share his feelings it helps out immensely. They both have an understanding that what they had was amazing, but it was just not the right time to continue. They really both are in different places in their life where being friends is what things need to be. She was not upset by what he said. She actually is happy to hear that he seems to be learning from it all and maturing from it. She will always support him because she knows the real him and where he is coming from.”
