Debbie McGee talks ‘reputation’ on Strictly after Kevin Clifton win: ‘Must be so bad’

Debbie McGee, 61, returned to the Strictly Come Dancing dance floor for the Christmas special last year and won the show with Kevin Clifton, 37. She had previously competed on the main show with dancer Giovanni Pernice back in 2017.

The former magician’s assistant caught up with Kevin on her podcast Spill The Tea With Debbie McGee earlier this month.
During this, the pair discussed Kevin’s future plans and their time together on the show.
Kevin spilled on his plans for next year after he decided to leave the BBC dance show for other commitments, back in March.
Following this, Debbie said she will now be remembered as the last person to dance with Kevin on the show.

Kevin won the Glitterball trophy on the main show with his now girlfriend Stacey Dooley back in 2018.
“You won with Stacey, you’ve got your Glitterball,” Debbie divulged. “You’ve got your little Christmas star.
“If you need reminding, I’ve got mine right beside me here.”
She added: “I have the reputation now of being the last person to dance with Kevin Clifton on Strictly.”
Laughing, Kevin replied: “I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not, I enjoyed it.”
“Must be so bad working with me,” Debbie replied, also laughing.
Kevin added: “No, you were so lovely to work with.”
“Yes, we had a blast!”, Debbie replied.

The dancing duo triumphed to victory after performing a Quickstep to Michael Buble’s Jingle Bells.
The four judges awarded the pair a full 40 points for their energetic ski-themed performance.
Earlier on in the pair’s chat, Kevin reflected on his time with Debbie in rehearsals.
He recalled learning how to be supportive of his celebrity partners after dancing with Susanna Reid in 2013 and admitted he wasn’t used to the way Debbie worked.

He recalled learning how to be supportive of his celebrity partners after dancing with Susanna Reid in 2013 and admitted he wasn’t used to the way Debbie worked.
Reflecting on his time with Debbie, he added: “It was interesting, when I worked with you, you had your process… you wanted to know all the information from me, you wanted everything I could tell you about the steps and you would write it all down and then you would need 20 minutes [to] half an hour on your own.”
“Yes, I’d say, ‘Go and have a coffee’, she recalled, laughing.
Kevin reiterated Debbie’s remarks, adding: “I had never experienced that before.
“I’ve always been like, ‘Right, you need me 24/7 but you were like ‘I need half an hour to process these notes and have a little practise’.”
