Everything we know about Prince William and Rose Hanbury’s relationship
There are some ugly rumors floating around the world but one of the worst might be the rumor about Prince William’s affair with Rose Hanbury. Rumors of the scandal began spreading in early 2019 and shocked audiences because it appeared that Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, had a solid marriage. Not only that but they totally come across as a team, dedicated to raising their three children: George, Charlotte, and Louis.
William and Kate married in April 2011, according to Hello Magazine, in what was one of the most highly anticipated wedding ceremonies in decades. While it’s unrealistic to expect the royal couple to have no issues, they seem to have been consistently able to rise above public scandal throughout their married life. Not only that, but the marital scandals that plagued Princess Diana’s life seem to add additional motivation for someone like Prince William to stay away from something so damaging to the happiness of his family and something so enticing to news outlets all over the world. So while we don’t put a lot of stock into the rumors, here’s everything we know about the gossip surrounding William and Kate’s once-close friend, Rose Hanbury.
Where did the rumors begin about Prince William and Rose Hanbury?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s public legal feud with British newspapers shows that the outlets can cause a lot of damage, both to someone’s reputation and to a relationship. The same could be said of the vicious rumor about Prince William and Rose Hanbury.
Point in case: the rumors can be traced back to an article published in The Sun in March 2019, which spoke about the deterioration of the close friendship between Kate Middleton and her then-best friend, Rose Hanbury. The article spoke about a major conflict between the two women, saying: “It is well known that Kate and Rose have had a terrible falling out. They used to be close but that is not the case any more.”
Both parties live in Norfolk, according to the outlet. Rose, who is the Marchioness of Cholmondeley (pronounced chum-lee) lives with her husband, David Rocksavage, and their three children, live just three miles away from Kate and Will at their home, Anmer Hall.
The Sun added that William is trying to patch up the situation but it’s not working: “Kate has been clear that she doesn’t want to see them any more and wants William to phase them out, despite their social status.”
Who is Rose Hanbury?
Rose Hanbury is two years younger than Kate Middleton and was a model before she made a very advantageous marriage. According to The Sun, Rose modelled for the agency Storm, the same agency who discovered Kate Moss. Not only that, but she also worked as a “political researcher for the Conservative MP Michael Gove,” according to The Sun.
Rose comes from an illustrious family herself, though. Per the outlet, Rose’s “paternal grandmother Lady Rose Lambert was a bridesmaid” at Queen Elizabeth II’s wedding to Prince Philip in 1947.
Rose ended up marrying David Rocksavage, who was once called the most eligible bachelor in England, according to Vanity Fair. Part of the reason for David’s appeal was that he inherited an estate worth £112 million, according to The Sun. Rose married David and they have twin boys Alexander, Earl of Rocksavage and Oliver, Lord Cholmondeley, as well as a daughter, Lady Iris, who were playmates to Kate and Will’s children.
How has Kate Middleton reacted to the rumors?
Some degree of rumors and scandal-mongering is to be expected when you’re as famous as Kate Middleton and Prince William. Not only that, but the royal family has been plagued by scandals over the decades, so in a way, the rumors about William and Rose Hanbury are nothing new. Not only that, but William allegedly has a “roving eye,” something that Kate has had to accept. According to the Daily Mail, William “has always had a roving eye, far more so than Harry, who is meant to be the family playboy. That’s something Kate has always known and accepted — it was part of the deal, if you like.” However, a roving eye is quite different from an affair.
So in terms of the affair rumors, it’s allegedly been very tough on Kate and Will and has compelled them to take legal action, according to Hollywood Life. The source said: “Kate and William generally ignore these sorts of nasty rumors, but this one has really rocked them, that’s why lawyers are involved. The rumor is so ugly and so false, they couldn’t just ignore it.”
Despite the legal action, Hollywood Life adds that Kate isn’t giving the rumor her attention: “Luckily Kate’s extraordinarily strong, she’s so good at rising above these kinds of things.” The source adds that Kate trusts William and believes in the strength of their marriage.
