Katy Perry speaks out about pregnancy and answers whether it was planned

Katy Perry has spoken about her pregnancy in her first interview since the big announcement on Thursday morning.

The 35-year-old singer shared the news of her being in the family way with fiancé Orlando Bloom at the end of a video for her new single 'Never Worn White'.

Now Katy has shared some intimate details behind her announcement when she visited SiriusXM Hits 1 radio show and revealed whether the pregnancy was planned or not.

Katy said: "Well, it wasn’t an accident."

She went on to explain: "It was like you know, I’m so grateful everything I have been able to do and achieve, and all the goals I’ve been able to check off my list, and dreams, and the life I’ve lived thus far.”

Katy went on to say that she has created a more healthy balance in her life as she embraces her pregnancy.

She said: "I just think I’ve been trying to create this space in my own life where I’m not running too ragged and creating space for something new to happen like this.

"I think we were both looking forward to this new interval of life and sharing this.

"That’s kind of how it happens, you know."

This is Katy's first child with Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando, while he has a nine-year-old son, Flynn, with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr.

Katy's big reveal came at the end of her new music video, where she is seen cradling her baby bump, dressed in a cream coloured outfit.

She later confirmed the news in an Instagram Live video, in which she said that she will be "giving birth this summer, literally.”

The American Idol judge then joked on Twitter that she was relieved that she didn't have to hide her baby bump in public any more.

She wrote: "OMG so glad I don’t have to suck it in anymore.”

She followed this by adding in a tweet: "Or carry around a big purse lol.”

The news of the expected baby comes just over a year after Katy and Orlando got engaged on Valentine's Day in 2019.
