NeNe Leakes believes Wendy Williams’ ex killed her potential talk show

Despite a few rocky moments between them, NeNe Leakes and Wendy Williams are still considered to be pretty good friends.

The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star does believe, however, that the media maven’s ex-husband Kevin Hunter had a major hand in preventing her from landing a talk show of her own.

During a visit to The Breakfast Club, co-host Charlamagne tha God asked Leakes, 52, about rumors that she was in talks to transition from Bravo star to daytime host — à la Bethenny Frankel — with backing from Debmar-Mercury, the same company that syndicates “The Wendy Williams Show.”

When asked if Williams and Hunter blocked the show, Leakes replied, “I think it was her husband.”

She went on to say Hunter was “never nice” to her and didn’t want her around. She also revealed that she’s yet to bring up the slight to Williams.

“I just never tried to have the conversation with her … but you know, I ain’t opposed to talking to Wendy about nothing, honestly,” she said. “I just felt like it was old news, I don’t really care about it anymore, I’ve moved on, she’s moved on, she’s not with Kev anymore. I thought he was toxic for her. I’m sure he was the person to go and get it stopped, like, ‘It’s either her or Wendy, her or Wendy’ and they already had money in Wendy, the show was already on.”

Leakes and Williams recently made amends after the Williams publicly claimed that the reality star was leaving “Real Housewives” following a private conversation.

“It’s been an especially difficult couple of weeks for NeNe, and she was venting to her friend in private correspondence,” Leakes’ rep told us at the time. “Nothing has been confirmed or officially decided for next season.”
