Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara, 37, has revealed that she’s ruled out a return to the dancefloor. Earlier this year the American dancer confirmed that she was taking a step back from the dance programme to appear as a host on its spin-off show, It Takes Two. But in a new interview the star shared how she’s drawn a line underneath her eight year stint as a professional dancer on the popular BBC show.
No, I feel like once you’re out, you’re out
Speaking with Made In Chelsea stars Jamie Laing and Alex Mytton on the former’s Private Parts podcast, Janette opened up on her future in the Strictly world.
This year the Miami-born dance star turned her back on a chance to win the coveted glitterball trophy for the ninth year in a row, to instead appear on spin-off programme It Takes Two.
Speaking candidly about her decision to leave, Janette said: “Saying goodbye to that part of my life is huge as it’s all that I’ve known for so many years now.
“It’s massively scary,” she added.
“Could you go back to it?” Jamie asked.
However, the star revealed that she had drawn a hard line under her years as a Strictly professional and wouldn’t be turning back.
She admitted: “No, I feel like that once you’re out, you’re out.
“But I think going into this new realm of presenting and doing television in that capacity is really, really exciting, but it is really scary to go into this new realm.
Janette continued: “I’m just glad that I’ve got – every single one of those pros messaged me to tell me how excited they were for me.
“Every judge, every person that worked in production – I couldn’t get more support from everybody for me joining It Takes Two.”
“Now you just got to deliver”, quipped Alex as the trio laughed.
Earlier in the podcast, Janette opened up on why the show’s producers thought she was the perfect option to replace former presenter Zoe Ball.
She explained: “What they’re really excited about the producers told me is that because I am a dancer and I’ve been doing the show for so many years, I know the show inside out, I know what the celebs feel like, I know what the pros feel like.
“I think they’re excited to have someone who’s an expert in what the show’s all about hosting it,” she confessed.
Janette will be co-hosting the BBC series alongside Rylan Clark-Neal when the dancing competition returns to viewers’ screens next month.
This year will see Shirley Ballas Return as head judge, alongside Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood.
Janette is not the only dancer who is departing from the team this year as Anton Du Beke will be replacing Bruno Tonioli.
Previously, Janette told how she won’t be able to live with her Strictly husband Aljaz Skorjanec, but added it “won’t be as long as last year”.
She told OK! magazine: “Because Covid is still an issue, in order for the show to continue moving forward with the professional numbers, the professionals and the production team have to isolate to rehearse and film all the pro dances, which means Aljaž will have to move out of our home.”
However, The It Takes Two presenter explained that she will go on holiday to take her mind off missing her other half.
