Strictly's Oti Mabuse 'wants older partner for next series'
Strictly Come Dancing’s Oti Mabuse is said to be requesting an older partner on the next series of the hit dancing show to distance herself from rumoured scandals surrounding Kelvin Fletcher.
The pro dancer was coupled up with the Emmerdale actor on last year’s series of the BBC One show, with the two later going on to win the glitterball.
However, Oti is said to be concerned after Kelvin was hit with rumoured allegations that he exchanged intimate snaps with a PR worker, despite being married.
Kelvin and Oti were also seen heading into a hotel in London for a nightcap earlier this month – with Kelvin’s wife Liz Marsland later unfollowing her husband on Instagram. However, there is nothing to suggest there is anything untoward going on between the two.
Now Oti has reportedly asked BBC bosses to pair her up with an older man for this year’s series of Strictly, as she fears for the ‘brand she has built’.
A source told The Sun: ‘After Kelvin’s messages were revealed, Oti tried to distance herself publicly from him.
‘She’s good friends with Kelvin but this experience has made her panic about the brand she has built.
‘Oti asked that she be paired with someone older in the next series to stop any speculation about the nature of their relationship.
A source had previously told The Sun that while Kelvin has repeatedly denied being unfaithful to Liz, he was contacting another woman and sending sexually explicit messages for over a year – including when he was on Strictly.
‘For a year he has been sending graphic messages and images to a completely different woman,’ they claimed. ‘It’s like he can’t help himself. He said his high sex drive made it hard for him when he was away from home.’
It had been previously reported that Oti, who is married to Marius Lepure, ‘did not want to be linked’ with Kelvin, amid rumours the two had been struck with the ‘Strictly Curse’.
Back in December, Kelvin did not go back to Manchester to celebrate his wedding anniversary with Liz, despite show bosses encouraging the celebrities to stay in London.
‘Oti knew it was Kelvin and his partner Liz’s anniversary and was happy for him to go to Manchester but he didn’t want to,’ a source told Heat magazine.
‘Oti was worried his decision may be seen as a reflection on the state of his marriage and the rumour mill would start up.’
