Christian Eriksen next club odds: Man Utd odds-on favourites to sign Danish star but Spurs and Brentford still in mix | The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED are in pole position to secure the signing of Denmark midfielder Christian Eriksen

Sky Bet have the Red Devils as 4/6 favourites, just ahead of Brentford at 2/1.

The Denmark star shone in his 11 appearances for Brentford since joining in January, including scoring at Stamford Bridge in the 4-1 thrashing of Chelsea back in April.

It looked like he would potentially make a return to Tottenham this summer when the North Londoners moved 1/2 in the market to sign him.

The market has shifted considerably in the past few days and United have since surged to the front of the queue to sign the midfielder.

Eriksen bagged four assists for the Bees in his short time back in the game, including two assists in his last three games.

Brentford was Eriksen's first club since the midfielder collapsed on the pitch after suffering a cardiac arrest during a Euro 2020 match in June 2021.

Sky Bet odds

  • Manchester United 4/6
  • To stay at Brentford 2/1
  • Tottenham 4/1
  • Ajax 16/1
  • Leicester City 25/1
  • Newcastle 25/1
  • Everton 33/1

After being fitted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator, which Serie A do not permit, his contract with Inter Milan was consequently terminated.

Brentford were just three points above the drop zone and had played more games than all the teams below them when Eriksen made his first start for them.

The West London side went on to win seven of the ten games that Eriksen started, ensuring a 13th place finish in the side's first season in the top flight since 1947, surviving by 11 points.

Current Spurs boss Antonio Conte bought him while manager of Inter Milan and it looked like a reunion could be on the cards.

Eriksen made more than 300 appearances for Tottenham, grabbing 69 goals and 90 assists and is now 4/1 to head back to the north of the capital.

Newcastle are also deemed to be impressed by Eriksen's fightback to form and have taken a liking to the idea of the Dane donning their black and white stripes next season – but are priced as high as 25/1 to land Eriksen.

Eddie Howe's Magpies are looking to build on a highly promising second half of the season by challenging for European places in the next campaign.

Eriksen was linked with a move to Ajax when news emerged that he would no longer be allowed to play for Inter Milan.

They still remain in the market to re-sign their former star but have drifted out to 16/1.

The then Ajax boss, Erik ten Hag, has been named as the new Manchester United manager, and is desperate to improve his squad that finished down in sixth this season, 13 points off the top four.
