Elvis Presley’s Graceland upstairs SECRETS: Lisa Marie on The King’s bedroom and office

Graceland has been open to the public since 1982, however the mysterious upstairs is off-limits. Of course, this is hardly surprising considering this was Elvis Presley’s private area. But daughter Lisa Marie has shared what it’s like up there for fans.

Speaking with Lorraine in 2018, the now 52-year-old was asked how religious Elvis was.

She revealed he was “very much so”, with piles of spiritual books being kept in his bedroom and office.

Lisa Marie said: “He always had books stacked up high next to his bed and they were all religious.

“If you go up to his bedroom, there’s a little office connected.”

Elvis’ daughter continued: “And there’s just nothing but books of every religion…a million bibles.

“He was constantly searching and he was very connected to gospel.”

Asked how similar Graceland’s upstairs is to when Elvis lived there, Lisa Marie replied: “Exactly the same.”

And despite it being The King’s private area, it’s still very much in the bold style of his stage presence.

The King’s only child admitted: “Oh it’s showy!

“It’s got a long shag carpet, black bed, red walls.

“Gold everything here and there.”

Lisa Marie said how Graceland’s upstairs was a sanctuary for Elvis.

But also where she feels most safe out of anywhere in the world.

Lisa Marie keeps a key to Graceland’s upstairs with her.

Aside from Elvis’ bedroom and office, there is also his dressing area, bathroom and Lisa Marie’s bedroom.

It’s her request that the upstairs be preserved just as The King left it in 1977.

This means that the last record he played is still in the player.

While even a styrofoam cup remains on a bookshelf.

Lisa Marie sometimes stays over at Graceland as she still very much sees it as home.

She and her family will use kitchen appliances and have had Thanksgiving dinner at the house.
