Meghan Markle’s bracelet from Gloria Steinem has a special message
Meghan Markle received a special gift from Gloria Steinem when the pair sat down for a “backyard chat” for Makers Women.
For the occasion, the Duchess of Sussex, 39, wore a beaded bracelet designed by the 86-year-old feminist legend that reads, “Imagine we are linked, not ranked,” a reference to the importance of women supporting one another rather than competing against each other.
“I love this,” Markle said during the interview.
“Well, you know actually, ‘we are linked not ranked’ is the shortest way I’ve ever found to say what our goal is,” Steinem responded.
Replied the Duchess, “It means everything to me on every level; we are linked not ranked.”
While the Steinem-designed bracelet is currently sold out in both Markle’s black and silver colorway as well as a red option, the jewelry will be restocked. The bracelets are priced at $48, with all proceeds benefiting Feminist.com.
Markle — who also discussed voter suppression, the need for representation and Prince Harry’s feminist ideals during her chat with Steinem — completed her California-cool outfit with an easy white T-shirt, striped Anine Bing pants ($250), black Stella McCartney sandals ($795) and a straw sun hat by Janessa Leone ($356).
It’s hardly the first time the Duchess has sported symbolic jewelry.
She recently wore an evil eye pendant during a charity video call, and her diamond eternity ring from Prince Harry features both of their birthstones, along with their son Archie’s. Prior to marrying 35-year-old Harry, she even wore a gold necklace with “H” and “M” initials that reportedly got her in trouble with palace aides.
