My weekend lover has suddenly ghosted me after I told him I was too busy to visit – The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: I’VE been seeing a man a few years older than me.

Most weekends I would drive over to his house and he was a very good host.

I didn’t resent the journey, which took two hours each way, because I enjoyed his company.

We were seeing one another for nearly a year. I am 51 and divorced, he is 63.

He asked me over for the weekend early last month but I had to say no because it was my daughter’s birthday and we had arranged to have Sunday lunch.

He then just ghosted me – not a word for three weeks. It’s torturing me.

Should I ask him why he’s gone quiet or just ignore it? I don’t want to sound desperate.

DEIDRE SAYS: It is possible that he has had flu or something which knocked him off his feet.

That gives you an opening to say, lightly, “I’m just hoping you are OK since I haven’t heard from you recently.” Add a bit of chatty news and see if you get a response.

If he has been sulking, at least you know you’re better off without him in your life.
