Tom Brady’s Patriots fandom hasn’t been killed by free-agency chaos
Tom Brady’s uncertain playing future didn’t stop him from predicting a big upcoming season for another member of the Patriots.
“Going to be a great year for you, @nkealharry,” Brady commented Friday on a photo of New England wide receiver N’Keal Harry.
For now, that would also mean a great year for the 42-year-old quarterback.
But there might be a reason Brady used “you” instead of “us”.
Brady is expected to enter free agency in March, when he may end up leaving the franchise he’s won six Super Bowls with in 20 seasons.
Always active on social media, Brady’s latest comment came at a chaotic time.
He hasn’t yet met with the Patriots to discuss his pending free agency — likely due to the undecided CBA — and there were an increasingly amount of reports at the end of this week suggesting Brady will sign elsewhere, possibly with the Raiders, Titans or Buccaneers.
The Patriots were knocked out by the Titans (who don’t seem to be sold on current quarterback Ryan Tannehill) in the wild-card round this past season, leading many to speculate New England’s two-decade reign over the NFL finally is coming to an end.
Harry, the 22-year-old first-round pick last April, likely is hoping Brady and the Patriots work out a deal so he can improve on a forgettable, injury-filled first season in the league.
If the Patriots and Brady don’t work it out, New England could turn to second-year quarterback and current backup Jarred Stidham, or draft another quarterback in April.
