Woman’s £2 cleaning hack transforms rusty jewellery in minutes

Jewellery can start looking worn over time.

Necklaces, rings and bracelets tend to discolour or rust, making them less appealing to look at.

But thankfully, there’s an easy way to get the accessories sparkling again.

Lee Tilghman, an Instagram influencer, shared a cleaning hack with her 309,000 followers.

It involves using a mixture of water, fairy liquid and hydrogen peroxide.

The products, which can be picked up from £2, fizz up and remove unsightly grime.

Lee explained: “Unbeknownst to me I just discovered a home jewellery cleaning solution!

“I used a squirt of @mrsmeyerscleanday dish soap and a few tbsp hydrogen peroxide with warm water.

“Watch with amazement at the jewellery excreting dirt in real life.

“Check first to see if your jewellery will be safe in there with your jeweller or something.

“I hear baking soda and vinegar work too but I didn’t have any on hand. #springcleaning.”

Lee’s post racked up 4,000 likes – and many said they’ll be trying the trick for themselves.

One commenter remarked: “Omg I need this. My jewelry is desperate for a cleaning.”

Another said: “Yesss love this. Doing this asap!”

And a third added: “Wow! Excited to give this a try.”
