Ashley Cain in tears as seriously-ill daughter Azaylia properly meets her cousin for the first time before hospital dash

ASHLEY Cain was left in tears as his seriously-ill daughter Azaylia was finally able to touch her cousin for the first time.

The 30-year-old star revealed that his niece Anaya and his own little girl were born just six days apart, but have only been able to see each other through a pane of glass.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, and Azaylia made more vulnerable after being diagnosed with leukaemia at eight weeks old, she was not able to be too close to her cousin before today.

In the emotional meeting, the two babies can be seen holding hands and curiously staring at one another, with both little girls dressed in pink.

Ashley is visibly emotional and has tears in his eyes as he beams at the sweet interaction, and reflected on the "special moment" as he shared photos to his Instagram page.

He wrote: "One special moment at a time ?✨

"When Azaylia finally got to see her cousin Anaya without a pane of glass between them, it melted my heart. The two little princesses were born only 6 days apart and when they touched hands for the first time, it sent immense amounts of emotion through my body. It made me happy, so happy, but with sorrowful tears.

"We take each day at a time on this journey. So it’s important to enjoy today, because yesterday is gone and tomorrow isn’t promised. ??

"Another day baby… Another day! LETS GO CHAMP! I ❤️ YOU ?"

The meeting came shortly before Azaylia was rushed to hospital for a blood transfusion, with worried mum Safiyya revealing that the brave fighter is in danger of "bleeding out".

At the start of April, the devastated parents revealed that they'd been given the heartbreaking news Azaylia's leukaemia can no longer be treated.

Although Azaylia is no longer a patient at the hospital, she often has transfusions to help her blood clot and keep her as comfortable as possible.

Safiyya and Ashley welcomed Azaylia in August last year, but were left devastated just two months later when she was diagnosed with the rare illness.

They have documented much of her fight on their Instagram pages, and told how they hope to make their little girl's time with them as full of fun, love, and happiness as possible.

Last week, Safiyya revealed that "struggling" Azaylia is now on oxygen at home after she was rushed to hospital again.

She previously told how Azaylia has lost movement in half of her face due to tumours on her brain.

Last month, Ashley and Safiyya raised over £1million to take Azaylia to Singapore in a last-ditch attempt to save her life – but were left devastated when they were told the specialists in the country could not help.

Doctors in the UK then discovered tumours throughout Azaylia's body, including her brain and spleen, and delivered the heartbreaking news that they'd run out of options to treat her.

Through her brave fight, Azaylia has won the hearts of the nation, and has been nominated for a Pride of Britain award – with people across the UK also taking to their doorsteps to "Clap for Azaylia" last week.
