Strictly Come Dancing fans tuned in for another night of the BBC dance competition on Saturday. On Sunday morning, BBC Breakfast analysed some of the most memorable routines of the night, with host Nina Warhurst chatting to former Strictly pro Flavia Cacace. While looking through the performances, Nina commented on how much she enjoyed watching her co-star Dan Walker on Strictly. However, Flavia highlighted where Dan was struggling in the contest.
Dan and his professional dance partner Nadiya Bychkova performed an energetic Couple’s Choice to the song Classic by MKTO on Saturday night.
Chatting on BBC Breakfast, Flavia and Nina looked back at Dan and Nadiya’s lively routine.
Speaking about Dan, Nina remarked: “He will hold his hands up and say ‘I am not the best dancer in the world’.
“But, what I love about watching Dan is he looks like he’s having a ball,” she added.
Flavia agreed: “Totally. The thing with Dan is that there’s nothing awkward about him and you could think because of his height and everything, some things would look a bit awkward, but he doesn’t.
“He pulls it off and he’s definitely got rhythm, he can definitely hear the music.
“I think last night’s performance was perfect for him because in actual fact, I said from the beginning he was going to be really good at the Ballroom.
“But, when he actually does the Latin stuff and he does solo dancing, that’s when I think he shines,” she said.
However, Flavia went on to point out the areas of dancing Dan seems to be struggling with in the competition.
The dance star explained: “He actually struggles a bit more when he’s in hold with his partner.
“He needs to work a little bit more in having that same confidence and ease when he’s with Nadiya that he has when he’s solo.
“So, last night’s performance was a good one for him because he was free. He’s able to just perform and enjoy it,” Flavia added.
Nina agreed: “He’s just having a lovely time. We see him on a Monday morning and he’s just bursting with the energy from it which is great to see.”
Strictly fans are busy speculating who could be next to leave the BBC dance competition.
Nina asked Flavia who she believes could be in the “danger zone” and at risk of being eliminated this week.
“It’s going to be really up to the public,” the dancer replied, before revealing she thinks Adam Peaty could be at risk.
However, Flavia noted that she thinks Dan will remain safe for another week of the competition.
“I think Dan will be saved by the public,” she remarked, highlighting the BBC Breakfast presenter’s popularity.
Viewers will have to tune in on Sunday night to find out the result of the public vote and see who will end up battling it out in the dance-off.
Strictly Come Dancing continues Sunday at 7:15pm on BBC One and BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
