Emmerdale fans left ‘broken’ after Vanessa gets bowel cancer prognosis
In Friday night's episode of Emmerdale, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) headed to the hospital for an appointment about her bowel cancer.
Vanessa has had a seriously rough few weeks, being diagnosed with cancer and then being taken hostage by rapist and murderer Pierce Harris (Jonathan Wrather) for over a week.
But it looks like there may be light at the end of the tunnel after her latest appointment – despite being told that the tumour had spread and she is now classified as stage three.
The doctor said there was a surgery available that could help, and that she had treated patients with a "much worse prognosis" that survived.
She told Vanessa: "It has spread – but it's still early days and I'm still confident it can be removed."
The good news left viewers emotional, with plenty of crying emojis sprinkled in their tweets.
One said: "Oh Vanessa. This hurts so much. The way she's sitting alone… Broken."
Another tweeted: "Stage three bowel cancer OMG poor Vanessa."
A third wrote: "Anybody else want to give Vanessa a big hug right now? Michelle Hardwick is an amazing actress."
