Strictly pro Gorka Marquez hints he will have a partner this year

Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez has hinted that he will have a partner when he returns to the show this year.

Fans were left outraged last year when it emerged that Gorka, who has appeared on the BBC dancing competition since 2016, wouldn't be having a partner in 2019.

While Gorka said that the time had allowed him to enjoy more time with his newborn daughter Mia with partner Gemma Atkinson, he was looking forward to having more of an active part in the show.

Appearing on This Morning alongside Neil Jones and Anton Du Beke, he was asked by Holly Willoughby whether he would be returning.

"We just need to wait and see the line-up," he replied with a smile. "I got time to spend time with Mia […] – it's the best thing in life, to see that little human growing everyday."

Meanwhile Neil received his partner for the first time last year after being paired with footballer Alex Scott.

However, all did not go well for Neil after he became injured in the middle of the competition after suffering a knee injury.

He was believed to have suffered from either a torn knee ligament or a pulled calf muscle, which can take up to six weeks to heal.

As a result, she was paired with fellow pro Kevin Clifton for two weeks while Neil recovered.

"To be there last year and have a partner was great," he said.

Last week, Strictly confirmed this year's line-up of professionals – with one glaring absense.

The most glamorous show on TV will be back in the autumn for another spectacular series with many fan favourites.

Oti Mabuse, who won last year's competition with Kelvin Fletcher, will be hoping to lift the Glitterball Trophy for a second year running.

While unlucky runners-up Amy Dowden and Anton du Beke will be looking to go one further this year and win.

Popular pros AJ Pritchard, Aljaž Škorjanec, Dianne Buswell, Giovanni Pernice and Janette Manrara are returning.

They will be joined by Johannes Radebe, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova and Neil Jones.

Gorka Marquez, Graziano Di Prima, Nancy Xu are also back – but it is unknown whether they will have celeb partners this year.

But there will be no Kevin Clifton this year after he announced he was quitting the show last week.
