Strictly's Nicola Adams vows to 'set fire to the dance floor' in first same-sex couple as viewers predict she'll win

BOXER Nicola Adams has vowed to "set fire to the dance floor" as she dances in Strictly's first same-sex couple – and viewers are convinced she's going to win.

The sports star, 37, is partnered up with Katya Jones and promises to impress fans with their plans for the series.

Asked by host Tess Daly if she's got her eyes on the prize, Nicola replied: "You know what? I have."

She added to Claudia Winkleman: "I want people to see my personality, my fun side and my bubbly side.

"I want to set fire to the dance floor and bust some moves."

Olympian Nicola was the first openly LGBT person to win a boxing Gold at the 2012 Games.

Now she's hoping to make history again this year in the ballroom with stunning Katya, 31.

Talking of her excitement about the choreography, Katya, who won in 2017 with actor Joe McFadden, 45, said on an Instagram Live session: “I don’t sleep at night coming up with moves, thinking of exercises for a partner.

“I am rewatching our videos, thinking which words are better to use to explain.

“I don’t want to sleep because I want to share. I want to see the progress. It motivates me a lot more.”

Tonight Strictly returned to reveal its dance partnerships ahead of next week's live show.

Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman returned for a star-studded launch show as they explained the changes made to the series so it could go ahead.

As well as no studio audience and social distancing on set, the stars have been tested twice for coronavirus before entering the studio.
