Coronavirus chaos as crowds dance in Piccadilly Circus and play cricket in street in Peckham after pubs kick out at 10pm

SOZZLED Brits danced in central London and even played cricket in the street after pubs closed at 10pm.

A large mob of revellers were filmed singing and bopping along to music from a blaring sound system in Piccadilly Circus last night.

Many of the group were not wearing face masks and and flouted social distancing as they flooded the streets at around 10.37pm.

And in Peckham, a crowd was filmed playing cricket in the middle of the street after being booted out of the pub under strict coronavirus rules.

The 10pm curfew has led to a mass exodus of Brits wanting to keep the party going but with nowhere to go.

This has meant partygoers have instead spilled out into streets for impromptu gatherings.

And for those who choose to head home when the pubs call time, packed Tube trains have been compared to scenes from "rush hour".

Many believe the controversial 10pm rule will just exacerbate the problem as revellers instead flood the streets to drink.

On Friday night, similar footage showed a group packed into Leicester Square after 10pm.

The partygoers could be heard "booing" cops as they shut down the singalong at the popular tourist spot.

Boris Johnson is due to announce the closure of thousands of pubs tomorrow in the worst-hit Covid hotspots in the North.

But it is thought restaurants in some areas could be allowed to remain open, but only until 10pm in line with the rest of the country.

The PM is set to announce a new three-tier system in a bid to halt rapidly rising cases of coronavirus across the county.

It means ten million Northerners could be back under a tougher lockdown as they fall into Tier 3 of the plans.

Areas with a low rate of infection will be placed in 'Tier 1' – where only national restrictions such as the Rule of Six and the 10pm curfew on hospitality venues will apply.

Regions in 'Tier Two' will see a ban on home visits and indoor socialising with other households.

And 'Tier Three' will see the most serious measures – including a total closure of the hospitality sector and a ban on overnight stays outside the home.

Other measures feared to be announced tomorrow include ordering people to not mix indoors and outdoors in the worst hits parts of the country.

Beauty salons and sports venues could also be closed down in the severe regional lockdown.

England's deputy chief medical officer Professor Jonathan Van-Tam said the country is at a tipping point similar to the first wave of coronavirus.

He added: "Earlier in the year, we were fighting a semi-invisible disease, about which we had little knowledge, and it seeded in the community at great speed.

"Now we know where it is and how to tackle it – let's grasp this opportunity and prevent history from repeating itself."
