The Springbok hooker was Bongi Mbonambi, who played the full 80 minutes of the game which his team won 16-15.<\/p>\n<p>A statement released today by World Rugby \u2013 the global governing body \u2013 said: &#8216;World Rugby takes allegations of discriminatory behaviour extremely seriously.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We can confirm that we are formally reviewing the allegation made by England&#8217;s Tom Curry in relation to the use of discriminatory language during the England versus South Africa Rugby World Cup 2023 semi-final on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76883071-0-image-m-14_1698049783506.jpg\" height=\"651\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>England flanker Tom Curry had accused Bongi Mbonambi of calling him a &#8216;white ****&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76856629-0-In_the_28th_minute_Curry_seen_right_approached_referee_Ben_O_Kee-a-17_1698049856331.jpg\" height=\"359\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>In the 28th minute, Curry (seen right) approached referee Ben O&#8217;Keefe and is heard to say over the referee&#8217;s microphone: &#8216;Sir, sir, if their hooker calls me a white ****, what do I do?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;World Rugby will not be making any further comment until the conclusion of the process.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Mail Sport understands that the RFU lodged a complaint with the tournament authorities, in relation to the alleged outburst by Mbonambi.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Curry was visibly furious when asked about the incident in the post-match &#8216;mixed zone&#8217; where interviews take place \u2013 confirming that Mbonambi had said something to him, but refusing to elaborate on the details.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After the final whistle on Saturday, there was an altercation between the pair, as the Bok No 2 refused to shake Curry&#8217;s hand and stormed off down the tunnel.<\/p>\n<p>That flashpoint occurred amid various confrontations at the end of the thunderous encounter between the sides.<\/p>\n<p>England players were aggrieved when South Africa&#8217;s replacement full-back, Willie le Roux, ran towards them and screamed in their faces, after the world champions snatched victory, having been dominated for most of the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After the review was announced, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak&#8217;s official spokesperson told reporters: \u2018It is rightly an issue that needs to be looked at very carefully by World Rugby and we await their response.\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76883891-12661315-image-a-21_1698050411338.jpg\" height=\"470\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Handre Pollard&#8217;s penalty 157 seconds from time gave South Africa a one-point lead late in the game<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/23\/09\/76883073-0-image-a-15_1698049806945.jpg\" height=\"415\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>South African hooker\u00a0Mbonambi played the full 80 minutes at No 2 for the Springboks&#8217;
