Brian May has been flooded with supportive messages after telling fans he was dealing with a mix of emotions following the end of the band’s recent tour and the death of his “dear friend” and driver Philip Webb.

The singer’s colleague of over 30 years died from a heart attack back in October while Brian was on tour with Queen.

Taking to his Instagram page on Wednesday, the rockstar began his lengthy post telling fans it was “strange” to wake up in his own bed after seven weeks away from family, alongside a picture of the booklet from his Philip’s funeral.

Brian, 76, went on to say: “Waking up at all the wrong times with an ache in your heart and most of your limbs aching too.

“Exhaustion, jet lag, and a lot of grief and disorientation – not the popular picture of the life of a life-long supposedly road-toughened rock star.

“But then… seeing this man committed to his grave. This man, without a trace of exaggeration, was a true modern-day knight in shining armour.”

He went on describe Philip as a “big man” who had “a loud voice” and “cockney” dialect “with the roughest vocabulary imaginable”.

Brian added he had struggled to write the post until he “finally journeyed home” and that he would continue to find more words at a later date when he was feeling better.

Many of Brian’s 3.2 million followers flocked to his post to send supportive messages.
