Lorraine Kelly emotional as she addresses co-stars death: Too young and too soon

Lorraine Kelly paid tribute to a colleague on her show who died following a battle with terminal breast cancer.

The TV presenter was emotional as she spoke about ITV producer Hannah Hawkins, who died just months after giving birth to her son.

Joined by Dr. Hilary on the show, the Scottish TV presenter paid tribute to Hannah, saying: "We’ve got some very sad news to share with you about a much-loved member of our team.

"Our producer Hannah Hawkins died just before the weekend after discovering that her cancer had returned only a few months ago.

"Just shortly after she gave birth to her beautiful boy Rory."

Lorraine went on to call her "amazing," before listing all of her incredible charity work, which included raising awareness and money for breast cancer.

Dr. Hilary added: "So kind, so universally adored, we miss her terribly already, just 33 with a young son. It’s really a tragedy that we are all coming to terms with."

Lorraine went on to add she couldn't bring herself to read Hannah's husband's Instagram post announcing her death because she didn't think she "would get through it."

She also expressed that Hannah had died "too young and too soon."

Hannah welcomed her baby son just two months ago when she was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time while pregnant.

Announcing her death on Instagram, Hannah's widower Tom shared a snap of her holding their baby son Rory as he penned a lengthy caption, which began: "Hannah Hawkins 11.12.89 – 3.11.23

"For someone whose love language was gift-giving, leaving us the day before my birthday was really not the one. I wish you’d kept the receipt."

The dad-of-one continued, writing that he could "write an essay" on how unfair it is that she will miss out on seeing their son grow up and that he won't feel the love of his mum.

Tom also reflected on Hannah's legacy, writing: "But that’s not how you saw it. The remarkable person that you were, the phrase you used so many times over the last few weeks – and it set me off every time; 'I’m so at peace with the life I’ve lived' is something we can all admire.

"The fact that right until the end, you were putting others' feelings first and making us all laugh was just you to a tee.

"Your life can be defined simply by love, friendship, and strength, and I’ll make sure these are cornerstones of Rory’s life. I want him to know how much everyone loved his mum and how much love you gave. How you would say to me in any of my dark moments, 'remember you are so loved'."

He then wrote: "I want him to know that you were someone who could walk into a room of strangers and come out having made friends for life and that our social calendar was always so full we physically couldn’t fit in everyone we wanted to see."

"I also want him to know the bravery you showed every day, facing into anything life threw at you with the strength of a warrior, a smile on your face, and laughter in your eyes. This is the legacy you leave for our little boy, this and so much more. Thank you for 13 amazing years."
