Davina McCall says you don't have to 'give up on sex' as you
Davina McCall, 55, says you don’t have to ‘give up on intimacy and sex’ as you age and that passions can be reignited once the ‘baggage of kids is gone’
Davina McCall has insisted that you don’t have to ‘give up on intimacy and sex’ as you age.
The presenter, 55, is fronting a new dating show My Mum, Your Dad for middle aged parents looking to find love again.
She has reflected on passion in later in life saying that once kids have flown the nest it can be the perfect time for things to be reignited.
She told The Sun: ‘What I like about the show is it’s a nice reminder to society that you don’t give up on intimacy and sex when you’re in your forties, fifties and sixties.
‘Actually, they could be the sexiest time of your life, when the baggage of kids is gone, they’ve all flown the nest, and you can actually go for it again!

‘With kids it’s like, ‘Shh. Oh my Gosh, they could walk in at any moment’.
‘So when you do have time to yourself and they are around less, that is an amazing time to try to rekindle something.’
Davina herself knows all too well about finding love again when that little bit older.
In 2017, she announced her separation from Matthew Robertson, her husband of 17 years who she shares three children with Holly, 21, Tilly, 19, and 16-year-old Chester.
Two years later she went public with her romance with hairdresser Michael Douglas, 48, who she is still happily dating.
Davina and Michael were old friends and first met when he styled her hair during her Big Brother presenting days.
Your Mum, My Dad will follow a group of single parents who have been nominated by their grown-up kids for a second chance at love.
Cut off in a country house, the candidates are, unbeknown to them, being watched from a nearby bunker by their children, who can step in to play matchmaker should they wish.
Each episode is an hour and has been dubbed a ‘mid-life Love Island’.

The brunette beauty has previously she champions mature singles as the true romance experts and cites her own confidence growth as an example.
She told The Mirror: ‘If you’re dating in your 50s, you know much better what your shortcomings are, and would have learned from mistakes you have made in previous relationships.
‘You will know the people who suit you, and the people who will bring out the worst in you.
‘There’s so many plusses to trying to find somebody in midlife because of your self-awareness.’

Talking about confidence Davina added the older you become, the more it grows, but appreciated if someone’s had ‘a difficult time’ or ‘something has happened’ there could be baggage, which might need addressing.
She also expressed that she knows how much pressure people have on meeting the right person, but insisted that it gets easier when older as people know what they want in life.
The TV legend is also known for her avid love of health and fitness and often shows off the incredible works of her hard-worked labour.
She told The Weekend: ‘I love feeling fit, it makes me feel really good, both for my mental health and energy. It makes me feel I’m alive.’

Why did you nominate your dad to go on the show? It was a joint thing with my brother and sister and it was our way of basically telling him that we were happy for him to start dating, if that was something he wanted to do.
It was a cop out on our part really, as it meant we didn’t need to sit down and actually say it. It was a sneaky way of saying, ‘Oh look at this, do you want to look into this?’ Never actually expected anything to come of it.
It was about putting dad first. We’d never really thought about us, or about ourselves in that situation. I wasn’t thinking about how I’d react, I was thinking about him.
The reason for that is he does the same for us, he would always put family first. So it was just a way of saying to him, stop worrying about us. If he wasn’t ready, that was also totally fine. It wasn’t an ultimatum. It was just, if you want to, you can, don’t worry about us.
