When is Christmas Jumper Day 2023?

Christmas Jumper Day 2023 takes place on Thursday, December 7.

Celebrating the day can be a great way to add a splash of colour to the workplace – or some sparkle to your home office – and the money raised from the event goes to Save the Children.

In 2022 £5million was raised, with this total including £2million of match funding from the UK government.

Over £35million has been raised for children in the UK and around the world since Christmas Jumper Day began in 2012.

How does Christmas Jumper Day work?

To celebrate Christmas Jumper Day, all you have to do is wear a Christmas jumper on the day – it really is that simple.

Save the Children say on their website: "You don't even need a new jumper."

“You can dig out last year's, or take a boring old sweater and add some tinsel, or get one from a charity shop".

People are encouraged to donate £2 to Save the Children, or £1 if you're at school, to take part in Christmas Jumper Day.

The charity also suggests wearing your a festive jumper while out running or cycling to raise awareness for their cause.

You don't have to just wear a jumper on the designated day either, asSave the Children states you could wear your jumper for the first 10 days of December.

How can I donate?

You can pledge your support for Save the Children by registering your details here.

The foundation also gives guidelines on how you can organise your own fundraising events and help out even more.

You will be given the option to create a JustGiving page when you sign up.

This allows people to directly donate the money there, with funds then going straight to Save the Children.

There is also an online form which you can use to donate.

If you're a school, you can take your pay-in-slip to your bank or any NatWest branch and pay there.

There is also a phone line which you can call up – at 020 7012 6400 – where the charity can process card payments over the phone.

You can also post a cheque or, if needed, you can email [email protected] to request bank details and do a bank transfer instead.
