I ban my kid from having more than five Halloween sweets – trolls say it’s ‘hateful’ but it's good to eat healthy | The Sun
A COUPLE have come under fire for “taking away” their child’s sweets after trick-or-treating.
Emily and Levi Jensen, who both work in health and fitness, defended that “kids don’t really need” a lot of sugary treats.
They instead tell their daughter that the Switch Witch is coming to their home – a witch who takes the sweets away and replaces them with something you can’t eat.
However, the parents have experienced an onslaught of backlash on social media after sharing their “tradition”.
Trolls have said that “taking away” a child’s sweets on Halloween is “hateful”, and warned that the parents will “mess up” two-year-old Aria’s relationship with food when she grows up.
“Or just let your kid enjoy a f*****g treat instead of instilling body hatred and diet culture at two-years-old,” one critic said.

“Horrible parents,” another slammed. “It's not always about being healthy, it's about having fun.
“When you're young you can afford to be a little unhealthy every now and again. Come on dude, it’s once a year.”
The angry responses were in response to a video posted by Utah, US parents Emily and Levi on their Instagram page.
“Kids don’t really need all that candy,” husband Levi said over a video demonstrating how they execute their tradition.

“Our daughter goes out and has a blast trick-or-treating. When she gets home, she gets to pick out five of her favourite pieces of candy to keep.
“Then she leaves the rest of her candy in her basket and leaves it on the front porch.
“During the night, the Switch Witch comes to collect the candy and leaves a gift in return.”
This year, little Aria was given a princess doll in return for forfeiting her sweets.
“We heard of this tradition a few years ago and now, our daughter is just as excited for the Switch Witch to come as she is for trick-or-treating,” Levi added.
“This has been a great way to cut back on candy but still enjoy Halloween.”
Mum Emily has since responded to trolls.
“When we posted the video, we had no idea the comments would be so heated,” she told Today. “The Switch Witch isn't for everyone, but it works for us.
"We do our best not to classify food as either 'good' or 'bad’.
