People are just realizing there's an easy way to get skin off a potato without peeling – it's perfect for Thanksgiving | The Sun

THINKING about Thanksgiving prep, many hosts feel overwhelmed by all the cooking that needs to get done.

If mashed potatoes are on the menu, you’ll want to save this tip.

Home cook Amanda D’Alfonso (@amanda.dalfonso) often shares her kitchen hacks and DIYs with her Instagram followers.

In one clip, she revealed her newfound potato prep method that will save you so much time this Thanksgiving.

“I was today years old…” she began.

She proceeded to grab three raw potatoes and make a small incision in the center of each, taking the knife around the entire potato.

She then dropped them in a pot of boiling water and let them cook through.

Once they were soft and ready – about 10 minutes in – she removed them from the pot with a fork and revealed that the skin had lifted off the meat.

She simply used her hands to peel from the incision mark and the rest just slid right off.

Her boiling trick will save you the time it takes to manually shave the potato skin with a peeler or knife.
