Brian May flooded with support after sad post on grief and heartache after death
Brian May has been flooded with supportive messages after telling fans he was dealing with a mix of emotions following the end of the band’s recent tour and the death of his “dear friend” and driver Philip Webb.
The singer’s colleague of over 30 years died from a heart attack back in October while Brian was on tour with Queen.
Taking to his Instagram page on Wednesday, the rockstar began his lengthy post telling fans it was “strange” to wake up in his own bed after seven weeks away from family, alongside a picture of the booklet from his Philip’s funeral.
Brian, 76, went on to say: “Waking up at all the wrong times with an ache in your heart and most of your limbs aching too.
“Exhaustion, jet lag, and a lot of grief and disorientation – not the popular picture of the life of a life-long supposedly road-toughened rock star.

“But then… seeing this man committed to his grave. This man, without a trace of exaggeration, was a true modern-day knight in shining armour.”
He went on describe Philip as a “big man” who had “a loud voice” and “cockney” dialect “with the roughest vocabulary imaginable”.
Brian added he had struggled to write the post until he “finally journeyed home” and that he would continue to find more words at a later date when he was feeling better.
Many of Brian’s 3.2 million followers flocked to his post to send supportive messages.

One wrote: “Please be extra gentle with yourself as you heal and grieve. Grief intensifies other pain and ailments. It impacts the whole body. Sending you kindness, peace, and comfort.”
A second commented: “So sorry for your loss.”
“So sorry for your loss, dear Brian. Thinking of you and praying for you, Phil, and his family and friends. May he rest in peace. And I wish you much healing,” a third added.
A fourth added: “A kind and loving tribute, from a true friend. Hopefully, being home will bring comfort, peace, rest and grace.”
Brian first paid tribute to Philip last month, telling fans it was “one of the saddest days” of his life.
He added of his friend: “Phil, my dedicated driver for over 30 years was my family’s dearest friend and protector and the kindest and most decent man I have ever had the pleasure to meet.
“We are all devastated and join with Phil’s wife and son in grieving for the last man on earth to deserve this much too early passing away.
“Bless you dear Phil – we all love you. We’re proud of the life you led, and forever grateful for everything you gave us – more than any words could ever describe. Bri.”
