Georgia Harrison wants to be MP after helping change revenge porn laws
Georgia Harrison wants to launch career as MP after helping to change revenge porn laws and jail ex Stephen Bear for sharing their sex tape online
Georgia Harrison has spoken of her ambition to become an MP after helping to jail her ex Stephen Bear after he distributed revenge porn of her online.
Ex On The Beach star Stephen, 33, was sentenced to 21 months in jail in March after he secretly filmed a sexual encounter with Georgia on CCTV in his garden and then uploaded it online.
Love Island star Georgia, 28, later launched a campaign calling for tougher measures against those who share explicit content without consent.
And now she wants to launch a career in politics after helping to change revenge porn laws.
Revenge porn was criminalised in 2015 but before June this year prosecutors had to prove an intent to cause humiliation or distress, but this clause has now been removed.

On moving into politics, Georgia told The Sun: ‘I had serious conversations with a couple of Labour MPs about if I could run for Essex, and they said it would be possible.
‘They told me to go away and think about it. They said if I was being serious about running for an MP it is something that they would support me with.
‘I think also for little girls growing up seeing someone like me running for an MP would be quite inspiring. We need more normal people going into politics.’
After walking the red carpet at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards this week, Georgia she was presented with the Activist award and took to the podium at London’s at One Marylebone where she admitted it felt ‘magical’ to be the recipient as she addressed the star-studded crowd.
Georgia told the audience: ‘It feels so magical to be standing here today accepting this award after what has been such a tough journey for me over the past few years.
‘For those of you that aren’t aware of my story I was a victim of image based sexual abuse and voyeurism which resulted in over 10 million people viewing sexually explicit content of me without my permission.
‘After seeking help from the authorities and waving my anonymity I went on to successfully convict my perpetrator and eventually use my experience to make an amendment to the Image based sexual abuse law meaning future victims will find it far easier to also have a successful court case.
‘I cannot describe the amount of support and solidarity I have found through other women along my journey and hearing their personal stories really highlighted to me just how much needs to be done to help protect women and girls across the UK.
Relief: Georgia gave a speech outside Chelmsford Crown Court after Bear was jailed for 21 months in March, saying she was ‘relieved’ her nightmare ordeal was finally over
‘I do not want to see another generation of women feeling abused, violated and ashamed. I want them to feel empowered and loved.
‘I want them to fearlessly speak their truth and I want them to live in a world where no means no and consent is taken seriously by all other human beings.
‘It is such an honour to receive this award from Glamour and be a part of their consent campaign which I know is so very needed right now and is going to help shape society for those following in our footsteps.
‘So to all of the amazing women out there I just want you to know you are so uniquely beautiful just as you are, let your soul be authentically itself in every situation and do not let anyone else’s opinion even for a second make you want to change who you are.’
Television star Georgia spoke of her relief after her ex-boyfriend Bear was jailed for posting revenge porn of her in March this year.
The disgraced Celebrity Big Brother contestant shared a sex tape of Georgia on adult website OnlyFans and made £2,000 from it.
The shamed ex: Stephen was quizzed by the press as he arrived at Chelmsford Crown Court for his sentencing hearing in March
It had been captured on CCTV cameras in Bear’s garden on August 2, 2020, before being uploaded to the video subscription site and WhatsApp.
Georgia, who has also appeared on The Only Way Is Essex, was devastated by the tape and a judge said she suffered ‘extensive humiliation and embarrassment’ at the hands of her perverted former lover.
Judge Christopher Morgan jailed Bear for 21 months and gave him a restraining order not to contact Georgia.
As Bear was led to the cells, the remorseless influencer was heard saying: ‘Have a good evening, enjoy your weekends everyone.’
The reality star was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register and will be subject to notification requirements for 10 years.
Inspirational: Georgia reflected on her ‘tough journey’ to bring ex Stephen to justice as she delivered a speech on revenge porn at Glamour’s Women Of The Year awards this week
After the sentencing, Georgia told journalists she was ‘relieved’ it was now over.
‘Today’s sentence is a vindication of what I’ve been put through and sends a clear message that the police and the courts take this matter very seriously,’ she added.
‘I want to let all other victims of this crime know that I stand in solidarity with them and I have absolutely no regrets in waiving my anonymity.
‘I hope that this puts anyone off committing this sort of crime and I hope for anyone else who’s been a victim of it gives them some sort of justice.’
