Richard Madeley told daughter she needed help after finding her on kitchen floor
Richard Madeley encouraged his daughter Chloe to seek help after finding her on the kitchen floor following an alcohol binge.
Chloe Madeley, 36, says she struggled with hate for being her parents’ daughter and would self-medicate to mask her unhappiness.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the mum-of-one shared: “It felt like people hated me, just for being my parents’ daughter, and got to a point where I was so desperately unhappy I couldn’t function any more.
“I couldn’t sleep, I was up all night, either vomiting or drinking, which obviously made everything worse.”
The personal trainer said her downward spiral culminated in her father Richard, 67, finding her on the kitchen floor and telling her she needed professional help.

Chloe continued: “My dad found me on the kitchen floor one morning, at my worst, and said, ‘Look, you need help. I’m not a doctor.
“‘We don’t know how to help you. But there are people who are qualified and paid to help you. So let’s find them and get you some support’.”
The Dancing On Ice star expressed her gratitude for her father’s support as she was able to get a diagnosis for General Anxiety Disorder.
Richard also got Chloe into Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and talking therapy, which she continues to have to this day.
