This Morning staff furious as they are overlooked for NTAs
The National Television Awards is one of the biggest nights in the TV calendar, and it is now just a day away.
As the excitement builds for the nominees, some staff at ITV's This Morning are reportedly furious as they will not be attending this year's ceremony.
Bosses at the daytime show are said to be "slimming down" their party, and they will only take their on-screen stars and their senior executives to the prestigious event.
The behind-the-scenes staff will have to watch from home on Tuesday, 5 September, as the TV show attempts to win the Daytime award, and host Alison Hammond goes for the Best Presenter gong.
It has been a turbulent few months for the programme following the Phillip Schofield scandal, which saw him confess to an affair with a much younger colleague.
On the back of his departure, the show was hit with many people claiming that there is a "toxic culture" backstage.
Sources suggest that those claims may be the reason for a smaller team heading to the awards in London tomorrow evening.
A TV source has told The Sun: "People are upset at the slimming down as the show is such a group effort, and the awards are usually a big night out for the whole team."
The source added that the show is blaming the cost of living crisis for the cutback, but the show has been "splashing" the cash elsewhere.
They also added: "It doesn’t help to shut down rumours of a toxic atmosphere.
"Some people suspect that bosses know it isn’t going to be a stellar year for This Morning after all the scandal."
While an ITV source told the publication that the decision is due to "budget cuts."
OK! has contacted ITV for a comment on the claims.
This Morning is going up against its fellow ITV daytime programme Loose Women, quiz show The Chase and the BBC's The Repair Shop for the award that they have won for the last 12 years.
They are looking to make it a 13th straight year, but as an investigation into the Phillip drama continues, it seems like it will be harder for them to do that this year.
The channel has the help of barrister Jane Mulcahy KC to look into Phillip's affair, and the findings of his report will be made public once the investigation is completed.
