Holly Willoughby was reportedly not too happy with This Morning getting snubbed at the NTAs, a body language expert has claimed.

The TV star, 42, joined the rest of her fellow ITV family for the glitzy awards ceremony, hosted by Joel Dommett, on Tuesday evening (September 5).

But the This Morning team were dealt a major blow after they lost out on an NTA for Best Daytime Show – breaking their 13-year award-winning streak.

Instead, rival show The Repair Shop, hosted by Jay Blades, took home the prestigious gong, and before making his speech, went and hugged Holly and Alison Hammond.

However, now a body language expert has ‘revealed’ how Holly really felt about losing the gong, with the blonde beauty apparently wanting to “mask her embarrassment in front of everyone.”

Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, body language expert Darren Stanton, claimed Holly was “trying to put on a brave face” when she found out the show had not won.

He explained: “I picked up that she was feeling a lot of turmoil in her head and internally. I can see that she was feeling gutted by masking a smile and her eye contact – there was no engagement through her facial expressions.

“She wanted to mask her disappointment in front of everyone, understandably. I can tell she also felt an embarrassment from the way she avoided eye contact on camera.”

What’s more, the expert also claimed that Holly’s clap towards The Repair Shop collecting their award was “insincere” and “half-hearted.”.

Still, Darren also noted how he doesn’t think there is any “animosity” towards the champs, but she was “clearly disappointed".

The expert said: “When Holly clapped for the winning show, it was an insincere half-hearted clap – you can see that she wasn’t actually touching her hands together. Her energy wasn’t in it. I don’t believe she has any animosity towards the winner, but she was clearly disappointed.

“She’s now the figurehead of This Morning and looking at her reaction, it was having an effect on her emotionally for sure.”

As for Holly’s co-host Alison, her response was slightly different, with the Brummie fave expressing her joy with “lots of energy”.

Darren claimed: “Alison Hammond’s response to the win differed – we saw Alison clapping with lots of energy and she displayed genuine and engaged smiles throughout. It was clear she was happy for the winners.”

During the star-studded event, the This Morning team were booed during live the event – just minutes into airing.

At the beginning of the evening, the host of the NTA's Joel Dommett introduced them to the audience and boos could be heard in the room as they were shown on the screen.
