A number of prescription drugs were discovered in Matthew Perry's home following his tragic death aged 54.

On Saturday (October 28), it was announced that the Friends legend has passed away after "drowning in his hot tub". Law enforcement sources said there were no drugs discovered at the scene, however, have now confirmed that numerous prescription medications were found at his home.

TMZ were told that the beloved actor was on anti-depressants, anti-anxiety drugs, and a COPD drug. COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) brings down swelling in the lungs and relaxes the airways.

The star was a known smoker and had tried his first cigarette at the age of 10. Emergency responders arrived at Perry's home on Saturday after receiving a call at 4.07pm about a suspected cardiac arrest, and found the star unconscious in his hot tub.

According to NBC, law enforcement sources claimed that Perry had drowned, and it was treated as a 'water rescue'.

TMZ claimed Perry returned home following a round of pickleball, a mix of tennis, badminton and ping-pong, and sent his assistant out on an errand, but was found unresponsive when the aide returned home just two hours later, prompting him to call for help.

Tributes have been pouring in for the late actor, who was loved by millions due to his portrayal of Chandler Bing in the hit sitcom.

Maggie Wheeler, who starred Janice Hosenstein in Friends, shared a heartfelt tribute to her late co-star, admitting she felt "blessed" to act alongside him.
