Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rotten drank non-stop after beloved wifes death

Frontman of The Sex Pistols Johnny Rotten has admitted to drinking for three months straight following the death of his wife.

Nora Forster was married to Johnny – whose real name is John Lydon – but passed away at the age of 80, after a two-year battle with Alzheimer's.

Lydon, 67, left his punk music career to become a full-time carer for Nora after she was diagnosed with the condition in 2021.

But speaking on the XS Noize Podcast, Lydon opened up that he had not been coping well since his wife's passing.

He revealed how he had been distracting himself with booze, but is now looking to change his behaviours.

Speaking on the podcast, Lydon said: "I'm getting fit. There was a period there of three months solid of just non-stop drinking. It wasn't help push the sadness away and I stopped."

He described the experience as "hell", adding that Nora would be disgusted at seeing him "crying into a bottle of whiskey".

Despite this, John admitted that he loved looking after his wife whilst she struggled with the disease, saying: "It was the most fun we ever had and it kept her alert."

It comes just weeks after Lydon confessed he still sleeps next to Nora's ashes.

He added that the initial grief was "much harder" than he thought, as he dealt with the loss after being together for nearly five decades.

But in spite his sadness, John insisted he would not take his own life and would fight to keep himself alive.

"At weekends my brother, his wife and kids and noisy a**e dogs come over. I have to get mentally fit because my family wasn't just Nora, it's also the audience that comes to see PiL."

Lydon's band Public Image Limited is set to embark on a tour, with Nora being a focal point for the group.

Nora was the subject of the song "Hawaii", with which the band tried to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool. They failed to win their selection.
