BBC viewers fume our licence fee is paying as fans slam rugby coverage

BBC Breakfast speaks to rugby fans in France

BBC Breakfast sparked a backlash from viewers on Sunday, with many slamming Mike Bushell’s coverage of the Rugby World Cup.

Many felt the programme was dominated by the sports coverage, instead of focussing on its news headlines.

Mike appeared via video link in Marseille as he spoke with his co-hosts Ben Boulous and Victoria Valentine, who were back in the studio.

As he wrapped up the segment, Mike said: “That’s just about it for now from Marseille where you can see, it is a hive of activity.

“The Fish Market is bustling this morning, people getting their meals ready for later on. I can smell it. It smells absolutely gorgeous.
