Law and Order SVU season 25 closer to return with exciting update

Law and Order SVU: Promo trailer for Season 24 finale

There’s some exciting news for Law and Order: SVU fans but it’s not looking as good for viewers of Law and Order: Organized Crime as Dick Wolf reopens his writers’ rooms.

NBC has finally reopened its writers’ rooms for the likes of Chicago trio of Fire, Med and PD, as well as Law & Order and its spinoff, SVU, and CBS’ FBI, Most Wanted and International.

While some of the hit crime-procedural shows are getting a new showrunner, Rick Eid has been welcomed back to do what he does best for season 23 of Law & Order.

The same goes for David Graziano, who is back at the helm of Law and Order: SVU for its 25th season.

With this in mind, it looks like fans’ hopes and dreams of getting all-new Law and Order seasons are on the horizon.

However, it’s not all good news for the Law and Order franchise.

The show’s spin-off, Organized Crime, is still on the hunt for a new showrunner to replace Sean Jablonski.

This means the hit series will not be among the Dick Wolf-produced shows expected to be among the first to return on NBC and CBS once the SAG-AFTRA strike finally concludes.

Dick was among the few showrunners and producers whose overall deal was not suspended during the nearly 150-day-long writers’ and actors’ strikes as he remained at work in a producing capacity on an unscripted show.

All his shows are produced by his production company, Wolf Entertainment and he remains based at his longtime home at Universal Television, which produces all of the NBC shows and co-produces, alongside CBS Studios, the FBI franchise.

With the WGA strike now a problem in the distant past, broadcast networks have been reopening writers’ rooms with the goal of completing pre-production and writing before the actors return to work.

This means filming can hopefully resume and high-value scripted originals can return to primetime as they look to salvage the 2023-24 season.

Premiere dates have not yet been revealed as that remains fluid based on the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Law & Order: SVU aired on Thursdays on NBC in the US.
