Lee Mack faces calls to be cancelled after painful Jill Scott joke at NTAs
NTAs: Lee Mack makes Jill Scott 'joke'
Comedian Lee Mack has faced some backlash to a joke he made about footballer Jill Scott at the National Television Awards.
Some fans think he could be “cancelled” after the 55-year-old picked up his award after winning the Quiz Game Show category for The 1% Club.
“To receive a sex toy like this off Jill Scott is an absolute delight and pleasure,” Lee remarked on the stage.
He went on: “People often say to me, ‘Why is The 1% Club so successful?’
“Well, people come up to me in the street and they say, ‘Lee, do you know why I love the show?’ and I try not to make eye contact I just keep my head down, walk on, so I haven’t got a clue.”

Lee went on to mock a colleague’s height and poke fun of Ant and Dec, stating the short microphone had been set up for them.
Turning his attention to the other famous faces in the audience, he added: “I want to thank all the other nominees because they’re all brilliant.
“I want to thank Michael McIntyre, I wanna thank Richard Osman, I wanna thank Bradley Walsh, proving that if you get really funny people to host a show, it’s a good idea.
“And also shows diversity targets are really working,” Mack sarcastically added. “Doesn’t matter if you’re 5″6 or 7″9, it’s for everyone.”
