Stunning action shots feature among RAF photo competition entries

  • Abigail Drewett scooped top prize for image of a Kuwait airliner and jets from Red Arrows performing a flypast

The winners of the Royal Air Force Photographic Competition have been announced, with a selection of stunning images selected by the judges. 

The overall RAF Photographer of the Year winner was AS1 Abigail Drewett, who captured a Kuwait airliner and jets from the Red Arrows performing a flypast across the Middle Eastern country over turquoise waters on November 22 last year. 

The public will soon be able to vote on the winner of the People’s Choice category.

An RAF spokesperson said: ‘Congratulations to everyone who won, who placed and who entered, the standard of imagery on show increases year on year.’

On the 17th of June 2023 aircraft from across the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force took place in a flypast as part of the King’s Birthday Parade, this marks the first Birthday Flypast for His Majesty King Charles III. Around 70 aircraft, including this Chinook helicopter, took part from 15 different locations across the UK, forming over the south-east of England before making their way to the capital and flying over The Mall and Buckingham Palace
