Mum breastfeeds whilst on a rollercoaster and defends herself – trolls say it’s ‘dangerous’ and ‘attention-seeking’ | The Sun

GETTING quality time with the kids can be hard, especially as most modern parents struggle to get much time away from the office.

However, one Pittsburgh mum has found a very usual way of making the most of every moment – literally!

With the cost of theme park tickets going up and up, most parents want their kids to enjoy as many rides as possible on their day out.

In fact, it’s estimated that it costs an eye-watering $300 per day to take a family of four to Disneyland – leaving many people priced out of the parks.

Not wanting to miss out on the family friendly fun, mum Meredith Barnyak jumped on the Frozen: Ever After ride with her husband Jeremy, their toddler Graham and baby daughter, Poppy.

Rather than waiting for the Epcot ride to be over though, the mum decided to quickly breastfeed her young daughter – with the moment caught on camera!

MUM NOTE

It should have been just another day out at Walt Disney World, the image was later shared on social media and Meredith soon went viral.

Whilst we aren’t saying you should miss out on spending time with your kids, there has been a major backlash to the incident – with trolls leaving cruel comments about the mum’s decision.

One even labelled the US mum ‘attention seeking’ as they hit out at the viral moment.

They wrote: “I don’t have anything against feeding your baby in public and I actually encourage women to do it, but some people …just want to be the centre of attention!

SO SAD

"And by the way, having a baby on a ride at an amusement park," added the user.

Others agreed, with another saying: "You want attention and credit for this? As if it’s some kind of superhero moment?”

A third then wrote: “Hey look! Someone’s feeding their kid! Amazing! Put it on social media!’…The cries for attention are getting worse.”

Some also questioned whether this was even safe after noticing the other people in the picture.

“Not to be a stick in the mud but this seems…kinda dangerous?? Am I overestimating the thrill level on this ride? The rest of the adults seem to be clinging on pretty tight,” commented a fourth.

Whilst the backlash has continued on social media, Meredith has defended herself for her unusual parenting choice.

“She would just pull on my shirt and I thought, ‘OK, its dark out.’ We’re all humans,” she told Today, saying that she just wanted to keep her daughter, Poppy, happy.

"We’re all honestly going to enjoy the ride a lot better and you’ll be happier being fed,’” she explained, adding: “I am a pretty big proponent of any way you can feed your baby you should be able to do it – in any place.”

Understandably though, the mum was pretty mortified to find out the moment had been caught on camera.

“As soon as I saw the flash, I was like, ‘Oh no, I think all these people have a picture of [me] breastfeeding my baby on this ride,'” she joked.

Well, it sounds like this mum has had a wild ride!
