The 6 secret signs Rochelle Humes could be gunning for Holly Willoughby's This Morning seat, says body language pro | The Sun

ROCHELLE Humes gave "secret signs" she could be gunning for Holly Willoughby's This Morning role today as she stepped in for the presenter.

Last night, Holly, 42, shared an emotional statement revealing she is quitting the show.

As she opened Wednesday’s show, Rochelle, 34, who has covered for Holly on the show before, gave a heartfelt message about her departure with co-host Craig Doyle, and appeared "confident" according to a body language expert.

Judi James told Fabulous: "There were clues Rochelle might be gunning for Holly's spot."

Raised eyebrows

Rochelle opened the show saying: "Hello and welcome to your Wednesday's This Morning and of course we want to start by sending our love, best wishes and respect to Holly."

The TV host added: "She will forever be one of us."

According to Judi James, Rochelle had "wide eyes, raised brows and smile at the start of the show, next to Craig’s sad look, suggesting she was clearly capable of carrying on professionally despite everything."

Channelled continuity

Craig ended the statement by saying: "As Holly knows only too well, the show must go on."

Judi claims that when Craig announced this "Rochelle's smile was immediate, showing continuity is a must for her."

Emphatic chin raises showing status

The body language pro analysed that The Saturdays star showed "confidence and status" during the opening segment, where she claimed "Holly loved her job here" and "she is quite rightly putting her family first."

Stayed on track

Rochelle and Craig headed to the This Morning couch to pay tribute to Holly with Vanessa Feltz.

The body language expert added: "When the comments about Holly continued on the couch, Rochelle again signalled a desire to keep the show on track, saying ‘Of course we do’ about missing Holly, we saw her eyes were actually on the iPad at that point, searching for the next item."

Mirrored posing

Rochelle and Craig put on a united front on today's show on ITV and Judi claims this was helped by "mirrored posing."

She explained: "Rochelle also displayed mirrored poses with Craig as they moved into a seamless double act."

Collaborative touches

Judi added that Rochelle showed "collaborative touches on Craig" as they "laughed together" and this "urged more humour and shared giggles".

This Morning's opening titles were changed in honour of Holly's exit.

Messages including "end of an era", "family comes first", "we'll miss you" and "goodbye Holly" flashed up on the screen as the introduction played out on-screen.

In her Instagram post on Tuesday, Holly wrote: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning. To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much.

"This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we've done together. I will not be returning to This Morning.

"Thank you to everyone at ITV for being supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you.

"Most of all, thank you to the wonderful viewers. You've been so loyal so supportive and the very best company every day.

"Richard and Judy said 'we only look after this show, it will always belong to the viewers'.

"It's been an honour to just be part of its story and I know this story has many chapters left to go.

"Sadly, however, I now feel I have to make this decision for me and my family. I will miss you all so much. Holly."

It hasn't been announced who will replace Holly on This Morning, but some fans have speculated it could be Alison Hammond or Josie Gibson.

Ladbrokes have currently odds for Rylan Clark at 3/1, Davina McCall at 4/1, Amanda Holden at 5/1, Rochelle Humes at 5/1, Alesha Dixon at 11/2, and Laura Whitmore at 6/1.

Holly's surprise exit comes after a turbulent year for the queen of daytime TV.

She and Philip Schofield were blasted over jumping the queue to see Her Majesty lying-in-state at Westminster Hall in September last year.

Then, in May came the shock revelation that Holly's co-star Schofield had had an affair with a young employee, which later saw him resign from the show.

Following Holly's shocking resignation, Kevin Lygo, Managing Director, Media and Entertainment, ITV said: "We are sad that Holly is leaving This Morning, but respect her decision which we know will have been extremely difficult for her to make.

"Holly is one of the best loved, respected and most accomplished broadcasters in the UK.

"She has been at the heart of This Morning for the past 14 years, and she is adored by our viewers. Holly has brought her unique brand of warmth, energy, humour and fun to one of the country’s most popular daytime shows, and everyone on the programme will miss her enormously.

"She remains a much loved member of the ITV family and we look forward to continuing to work with her in the future."

Her co-stars have rallied behind her after she made the shock revelation she's decided to leave the show.

Alison Hammond wrote: "This is a very sad day! Love you."
