The First 'Grand Theft Auto 6' Trailer Drops On December 5
Rockstar Games has officially announced that the first Grand Theft Auto VI trailer will be released on December 5. Per an announcement on X (FKA Twitter) the highly-anticipated trailer will arrive at 9 AM ET/6 AM PT that day. The announcement post gives little context on what, exactly, this first trailer contains, but its background — which shows a warm sunset with palm trees and seagulls — indicates a return to Vice City, the Miami-inspired beach town that served as the setting for 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and 2006’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
Though the plot of Grand Theft Auto VI is mainly unknown, it’s reportedly set to feature a brother-and-sister team of protagonists and be focused on large heists. Most of the early (and unverified) information about the game so far has been culled from an enormous leak in September 2022, which caused Rockstar to issue a statement about the game’s progress that noted how “disappointed” that “any details of our next game shared with you all in this way.” The game supposedly features an enormous map that’s similar in size to Red Dead Redemption II and a second stand-alone map as well.
Of course, Grand Theft Auto VI has major shoes to fill. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto V, is one of the most critically acclaimed and popular games of all time, with an average score of 97/100 on Metacritic and over 190 million copies sold since its release in 2013. To this day, Grand Theft Auto V is still wildly popular thanks to its frequently updated GTA Online game mode.
